Imagine, if you can, a world without dance! Most assuredly, a world without dance would be a world without the beautiful expression of movement and emotion through time and space.
Founded in and dedicated to the tradition of ballet and the artistic expression of dance, the mission of California Theatrical Youth Ballet, together with California DanceArts, is to provide the most progressive quality dance education and inspired theatrical experiences for our dancers, community and Southern California. Through this process, we seek to nurture and encourage our students professionally and develop our artists and audiences in the creativity, imagination and joy of dance.
California Theatrical Youth Ballet, commonly known as ctyballet, is a non-profit organization, and in such capacity, the company relies heavily, now more than ever before, on patron, community and corporate support to stage our dance productions throughout the year. It is ctyballet’s desire to continue offering professional-caliber, cost-effective dance productions to the community, while, at the same time, providing additional performing opportunities for the dancers of the company and community. Please give our company the opportunity to grow, enabling us to continue our endeavors of providing cultural inspiration to the youth and the community, as a whole, by making a generous, tax-deductible donation to California Theatrical Youth Ballet.
Capital Improvement Campaign:
Over the years, the Company has successfully staged productions for the surrounding communities within the California DanceArts academy studio, pursuant to a verbal sublease arrangement. To produce each of these shows, the Company must purchase costumes, as needed, and must also secure rented backdrops, lights and bleachers for audience viewing. While these items and their associated costs are vital in order to produce a professional-quality production, the rental costs are often cost-prohibitive. In an effort to avoid these repeated expenditures, the Company is seeking financial support to create a self-contained theater within the California DanceArts academy studio by purchasing and installing the following items:
• collapsible bleachers
• portable mirrors for Company rehearsals
• theater lights and light board
• upgraded sound system with public address capabilities

Annual “Snow Queen” Campaign
“The Snow Queen”, with a cast of 60-70 children and young adults, is a delightful production staged annually by ctyballet during the holiday season. Adapted for ballet from the children’s classic story written by Hans Christian Andersen, “The Snow Queen” is a beautiful story demonstrating that friendship, hope, integrity, persistence toward one’s goals and determination can enable anyone to overcome life’s obstacles. Each year, proceeds from ticket sales help to defray, but certainly do not completely cover, the multitude of expenses associated with “The Snow Queen” production, including, but not limited to, (i) the acquisition of new costumes or the refurbishment of costumes maintained in the Company’s existing wardrobe, (ii) the production of promotional and advertising materials, (iii) the construction of sets and refurbishment of existing scenery and props maintained by the Company and (iv) the salary of a hired professional lighting and technical director.

Scholarship Program
California Theatrical Youth Ballet is interested in offering dance training and performance opportunities to young dancers who do not have the financial means to take advantage of such training or performance opportunities. All too often, we find that there are many disadvantaged children who are not given the chance to explore the beauty of dance. Your support could provide a young pre-professional dancer with enhanced training and professional opportunities by funding tuition to a summer intensive program with a national ballet company. A scholarship program offered by ctyballet would also provide these young students with valuable work-study experience and would be made available only to the most deserving.
