Dare to Dance! - Career Prep Classes
The California DanceArts Career Preparatory Division is designed to fulfill the artistic needs of more experienced dancers who desire opportunities to perform at the highest caliber. Not every dance student processes the desire to become a professional dancer; however, training of a professional caliber ultimately benefits any student. At California DanceArts we believe that professional quality and professionalism should be the product of any school or academy teaching learned skills. For more serious young students who dream of potential careers or for experienced professional dancers currently persuing careers, and who wish to train in this capacity, we created the Career Prep Training Division.
In addition to adding any number of Elective classes, the program consists of dedicated training in Classical and Contemporary Ballet , Modern dance, MPT (Placement Technique), Conditioning and Dance EssentialsTM. As students become eligible they may attend classes in Pointe, Variations and Pas de deux. Students enter this program at California DanceArts Level 3. Classes are anywhere between 1.15 long to 2 hours.
Younger dancers gain the opportunity to work with professional dancers, directors and choreographers by participation in classes and in rehearsals through our affiliate company, California Contemporary Youth Ballet, which provides performance opportunities that realistically, duplicate the experience of a professional dance company. Students from the youth company may eventually have the opportunity to be selected as a member to our senior company, California Contemporary Ballet (CCB) Professional dancers from CCB often attend our Advanced ballet classes.
Students in the Career Preparatory Training are given preparation assistance and guidance toward auditions at national and international level and placement for various dance and college programs. We encourage dancers in this program to attend CDA summer intensive programs and workshops during the summer and through the year which feature guest teachers and intensive study. By utilizing traditional, contemporary and new training methods, our goal is the facilitation of technical excellence and maximum potential; resulting in a performance level where the dancer can consistently reach beyond this technical standard to perform effortlessly with full artistic expression. Our Career Preparatory Training advances students closer to this ideal.
Using expert knowledge of what is expected from young dancers as they potentially enter a career in dance or discover opportunities for their skills within their field of interests and pursuits, by mentoring students and creating a balance of artistry and technical excellence, the California DanceArts faculty assist dancers as they make their own assent toward achieving their dreams.
