Pointe & Variations
What young girl doesn't dream of dancing in a lovely pair of satin Pointe shoes? It is that beautiful and romantic image of a ballerina, floating across the stage on her toes that inspires and motivates most young girls to start taking ballet classes in the first place. However, before any dancer commences this very specialized training, allowing her to dance on the tips of her toes, there is some very important information you will need.
We offer a free report about the very specialized skill in an effort to give you the necessary knowledge and a greater understanding about what you should expect from the California DanceArts (CDA) Pointe Training Program. Please contact us for your own Free copy of our Pointe Program Report. This report is required readign for all of our student entering our Pointe program.
At CDA, we will only place those dancers on Pointe who are properly prepared. This means that the student is at least 12 years of age, has been attending regular ballet training for at least two full years and have patiently and diligently attended pre-Pointe classes, practicing all of the required exercises until such time when, on that glorious day, following a brief but successful Pointe examination, the teacher sends the student to be fitted for her very first pair of Pointe shoes!
First- and second-year Pointe students are encouraged to remain in our beginning Pointe technique class, since the additional training will only help to ensure their overall and continued progress. Upon the approval of the teacher, students may then progress to a more advanced level of Pointe work as well as Pas de Deux and Classical Variations classes since these classes are geared toward performance and advanced choreography. Ah yes, after that, the next step would be a principal role and a job with a professional ballet company!
Both young men and ladies with sufficent Pointe training may attend our Classical Variations class where female and male solos from classical ballets such as Don Quixote, Le Corsaire, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Nutcracker are taught to specific traditional standards.
Pointe class is offered on Friday at 6:00pm-7:00pm
Variations class is offered on Wednsdays 5:00pm-6:00pm
