Students who are accepted to our Global Ballet Workshop receive a full summer- one of the most complete and intensive training packages available. In Los Angeles, students will be led through preparatory training and choreography, getting a jump start on class material and choreography that will be taught in Ostrava. The 2008 Global Ballet Workshop enables you be at the ultimate top of your game where and when it really counts the most...performing for an international audience. Dancers from the Los Angeles International Ballet Intensive will be chosen to perform choreography for an international audience in the Czech Republic. This year the program features two Gala Performances- One performance in the historical city of Ostrava and another in the famous city of Prague!

Ostrava Ballet and Dance Workshop (OBDW) 2008
Once In Ostrava, join an amazing international faculty including:
Igor Vejsada of the Ostrava Ballet- Moravian and Silesian National Theater
Jana Kurova-former Prima Ballerina of Prague International Ballet
Yehuda Maor- Our very own former ballet master at California DanceArts
Karin Auerty-Former Prima ballerina of the Paris Opera Ballet and San Francisco Ballet
and many more invited guest teachers.

Students will participate in a daily intensive schedule of classes and rehearsals led by world class instructors.

2008 Global Ballet Workshop includes :
~2-4 weeks at Los Angeles International Ballet Intensive
PLUS
~2-5 weeks in the Ostrava Ballet Workshop (OBDW).
Dancers who elect the option to continue their training in the Czech Republic by participating the Global Ballet Workshop (GBDW), will certainly have a full package for dancing all summer long and an experience of a lifetime! You may elect a package menu that includes study in LA as well as in Ostrava for the Ostrava Ballet Workshop.

Global Ballet Workshop (GBW) with Ostraval Ballet Workshop (OBW) offers a program designed to help dancers to make major improvements in their dance technique and guide them to focus on their specialized dance career. In the frame of this workshop you will learn additional choreography from many new international dance teachers, choreographers and company directors which will open your mind and challenge you as a young artist. You will be exposes to numerous experiences in classes, rehearsals and performances that will follow you for the rest of your dance career. OBDW has gathered a distinguished international faculty to deliver this intensive program. Within this curriculum OBDW meets dancers' expectations taking students from the classrooms - all the away to the stage.

In the picturesque city of Ostrava, in a safe environment, OBW provides a social setting to dancers in their free time. You will meet new friends, socialize and relax with colleagues and roommates in Ostrava's many sidewalk cafés, restaurants, street musicians, arts festivals and the European culture seasoned by the centuries.

2008 Global Dance Workshop Package for Ostrava Ballet & Dance Workshop

$450 of the deposit must be submitted for the program in Ostrava. Deposits and registration for both programs will be handled by California DanceArts. Deposits and initial registration is required immediately to reserve your position and no later than April 15 while positions last. Balances and complete registration is due before May 15.

Rates are in addition to program fees and deposit for the Los Angeles International Ballet Intensive

4 weeks in Ostrava- July 7-August 8 - $3000.00
3 weeks in Ostrava- July 17- August 8- $2400.00
2 weeks in Ostrava- July 7-July 20 - $1,650

Note-Students who choose to attend the 2 week program will be unable to perform in the end of workshop Gala Performance.

Rates include Accommodations + Lunch and Dinner each day in Ostrava!

Required Insurance: $33.00
Airfare or personal spending and travel expenses not included.

Accommodations in Ostrava
Four star hotel within walking distance of Conservatory studios. Linen, towels & laundry service included. We suggest that students make accommodations reservations as soon as possible and travel in groups.

~Rooms shared by 2-3 persons according to age or special pairing requests.
~Single rooms for chaperones and assisting guests available by request. (rates per person)

The Ostrava Ballet and Dance Workshop Facilities

The Janacek conservatory is located in the center of the city, a vast modern building with all the facilities any student of the art might need. Our students will have the comfort of 4 big professional dance studios, Big rehearsal studio, a special Media Room, with more then 30 computers connected to the internet, big lobby which has its own coffee shop / catering service, a student's lounge and its own performance theater which sits over 400 people.

Transportation to facilities
When you arrive by train to Ostrava-hlavní nádraží (Ostrava-Main Station),
Take any tram (1, 2, 8, 12) get off at "Hotelový dům Jindřich" (approx. 6 minutes).
Walk some 150 meters back to the old winding tower.
Taxis are also available at the airport and train station at very low rates.

Global Ballet Workshops Age and Level
The 2008 Global Ballet Workshop in Ostrava, Czech Republic is for students mature enough to handle full days of classes and rehearsals, traveling a long distance and hotel living. We recommend that unless accompanied by an adult or guardian, students from the United States should be at least 14 years of age. By request, group travel and additional supervision can be arranged.
